About Tianjin Academy of Environmental Sciences

 

Tianjin Academy of Environmental Sciences (hereafter as TAES) was founded in 1975 and it is the only municipal institute in environmental scientific research and service of Tianjin. TAES was added two other names in 2011 and 2013 which are called “Tianjin Academy of Environmental Planning” and “Tianjin Low-Carbon Research Center”. TAES can provide comprehensive technical consultation and technical service to all levels of government bodies, enterprises and society.
Through tens of years of efforts in technology research and development, technology application and promotion, environmental plannings formulation, EIA, environment pollution control, cleaner production audit, energy utilization audit, listed environment verification and etc, TAES has provided solid technical support to the construction and development of Tianjin in ecological city building, energy conservation and emission reduction, circular economy, and low-carbon development. Scientific research strength of TAES and capacity of its talents have been gradually improved.
TAES has 290 full-time employees, including 17 professor-level senior engineers, 15 doctors and postdoctors, 66 engineers holding various environmental qualifications. TAES has established the first environmental postdoctoral research center of China and also opened environmental doctor and postgraduate research program. TAES has 29 research and management sections, such as State Environmental Protection Key Laboratory of Odor Pollution Control, State Engineering and Technology (Tianjin) Center of Hazardous Waste Disposal, Water Pollution Control Committee of China Association of Environmental Protection Industry, Tianjin Low-Carbon Development Research Center, Tianjin Key Laboratory of Air Pollution Control, Tianjin Engineering and Technology Center of Odor Pollution Control and etc.

Since the Eleventh-Five Period, TAES has undertaken about 60 state and provincial-level major science and technology projects, 200 major technological supporting projects, 1200 technological consulting and service projects and 200 pollution control projects, which provide long-term, stable and high-efficienty technical support to the government and the society.
