State Key Laboratory on Odor Pollution Control is a key laboratory of the national-level directly subordinate to the Ministry of Environmental Protection. It was founded in 1997 and was officially approved and nominated by the Ministry of Environmental Protection Agency in July, 2002.
The Laboratory is the unique laboratory specialized in the odor pollution control. It focuses on the monitoring and analyzing technology; laws, regulations, standards and policies; environmental impact assessment; and control technology of odor pollution.

The Laboratory adheres to the philosophy of ＾open, mobility and cooperation￣, and has established scientific and technological cooperative relationships with Nankai University, Tianjin University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Petroleum University of China, Tianjin Urban Construction College, Tianjin Polytechnic University, Tianjin Chinese Medical University, and the General Pharmaceutical Plant of Harbin Pharmaceutical Group. In recent years, the Laboratory has chronically undertaken the flowing projects: Tianjin Odor Standards Research, State Odor Pollution Discharge Standards, Research on Standard Olfactory Solution Research, Research on Odor Pilot Plant Test and Movable Monitoring Devices, Research on Biological Odor Removing Technology, Characteristics of Odor Pollution in Important Areas in Tianjin and Research on Solutions, Research on the Odor Pollution in Wastewater Treatment in the Pharmaceutical Industry, etc. These projects include scientific researches from Ministry of Environmental Protection, Tianjin Committee of Science & Technology and Tianjin Environmental Protection Bureau and cooperative researches with some foreign-invested companies and domestic large-scaled enterprise. Chronically, the Laboratory has obtained one third-grade Scientific and Technological Prize of National Environmental Protection Bureau, one Tianjin Second-grade Scientific and Technological Progress Standardization Prize, one third-grade Tianjin Scientific and Technological Progress Prize, and also obtained three product certificates.
